There are two drives for this SAS controller: one RAID and one JBOD. If you still see them as RAID drives, then you might have the wrong WINDOWS 2016 driver. Windows will see them as SAS bus type with HDD or SSD. You simply just add drives to the drive slots, and Windows 2016 will see them now. Once you do that, you are like in HBA mode. Once you upgraded the firmware, you can go inside it and enable the card to be in JBOD mode, and change the personality of the card from RAID-MODE to JBOD-MODE. You can't update it with any of the existing LSI drivers since it will cause problems. Apparently, this is a special controller that can handle 12 drives, and it is only available for SuperMicro. Update: I got this resolved after much headache.įirst of all, you have to download the firmware from SuperMicro for this Avago 3108 raid controller.
